HDD Top 4 x Poirier

As we get ready to celebrate four years of Hipsters Don’t Dance on December 7th with Poirier and Serocee, we have selected four of our favourite tunes from Poirier (look out for our top 4 x Serocee tunes next week). Choosing four tunes was a pretty tough task as Poirier has an amazing back catalougue of productions, remixes and refixes. Ever since he dropped palance during his set at Red Bull x Major Lazer Notting Hill Carnival party back in 2010 we knew we had to have him dj at one of our parties! If you are not familiar with his work these selections will give you a taste of what’s in store at our birthday bash on December 7th.

Blazin is on the same album (No Ground Under) as another favourite of ours Go Ballistic from back in 2007, it was probably around this time that we fell in love with Poirier’s productions. Blazin features Face T on vocals and the pair always work well as a team.

Poirier gives us an African drum laden version of Press Up with this remix which we feel falls in the same category as Aidonia’s Tip Pon Yuh Toe and Spice’s Hot Patty Wine. It is part of the Booty Based Mob compilation which you can get here by naming your price!

Its no secret that we love soca here at HDD HQ and last year Poirier’s Soca Road EP provided us with some fresh power soca with an international vibe. Bring It On is our favourite track on the EP and features Cape Town’s EJ Von Lyrik riding Poirier’s signature soca sound like a pro! Kazabon chose this tune as one of her honorable mentions for top tunes of 2012.

We all know Erup’s big hit but who know’s about the remix ep that came out with remixes of the tune by Poirier, Grahmzilla, Nick Catchdubs and Lunice?! Poirier’s remix is our favourite and still sounds fresh today.
